Social responsibility

Social responsibility:

Arising from the social responsibility, the Invisible Exhibition respects the individual’s autonomy, innate dignity and human diversity. We are devoted to enhancing the life quality of vision-impaired people, our social mission is to ensure that we obey and practice all basic human rights of the blind and vision-impaired people. Hence, we consider the development of an inclusive society as a priority. With our activity, we support the “Bízz Vakon!” Not-for-profit Association’s work to help them in the realization of their social aspirations.

Prejudice exists among employers as well as in children and adults in our society towards people who live with disabilities, especially as they had to attend special educational institutions for decades. In the last years, blind and sighted children started to attend school together, which is a huge opportunity for blind children to integrate. Unfortunately, they still feel alienated because their school mates or, in some cases, even the teachers do not know how to behave around them. They are not aware of how to assist them or whether they can use the words “look” and “see” in a conversation or not. Through our exhibition, events and visits in other locations, we aim to show that blind people are ordinary people and we would like to teach the younger generations how to assist blind people and how to behave around them.

It is essentially important for us to facilitate the social integration of the vision-impaired and our main goal is to support and improve their social status and recognition.

By our activity and service, we aim to take part in the development and formation of an inclusive, acceptive, empathic, tolerant society in which diversity is respected and individuals are open to assist and support each other. The Invisible Exhibition makes all effort for the realization of these goals, we are determined to introduce these values to all members of the society, hoping that once they possess this new knowledge they might get closer to getting to know vision-impaired people and by that accepting them.

For continuously maintaining our social mission in the long term, we are open to developing solid and long-lasting collaborations based on responsible and constructive communication.

We aim to connect with socially involved and financially responsible economic organizations, that as part of their social responsibility programme could support the Invisible Exhibition’s mission as business partners.

Responsibe employment:

The Invisible Exhibition as a responsible employer does everything to create and maintain the ideal workplace circumstances for their employees. For our colleagues with special needs, we guarantee unhindered access, based on their demand or need we provide them assistance and we make sure that they are always taken care of.

Moreover, health maintenance is of utmost importance for us, therefore we ensure that there is a sufficient amount of breaks during work and for our employees, we generally organize and subsidize medical examinations and screenings. From the moment of recruitment and selection procedure, through payment and the employee’s assertion of interest, we put emphasis on the realization of long-lasting, balanced and pleasant work-relationships, which are based on mutual trust.

We consider the balance of personal life and work as a priority, hence we guarantee a homely environment, a cohesive team, a pleasant atmosphere at work and flexible work schedule. We frequently participate in team-building activities, collective trips, sport and other caritative events with our colleagues. Moreover, through organizing free language lessons we ensure that our colleagues maintain and improve their foreign language skills that are necessary for their daily work.

Equality of opportunity:

In a modern, European democracy tolerance and unbiasedness are significant values, moreover providing the opportunity of social integration for every member of our society is a highly relevant objective. The Invisible Exhibition as a responsible employer executes its activity based on respectful thinking and deeds. The Exhibition respects the individual’s autonomy, innate dignity and celebrates human diversity, hence while in employment we guarantee our employees the equality of opportunity and equal treatment. Moreover, we make sure that none of our employees faces bias and discrimination and we advise our colleagues to step up against all forms of discrimination whether they are facing it or another co-worker.

Within the frames of equality of opportunity, we aim our attention at the long-term employment and integration of the disadvantaged employees, at the moment we employ 20 vision-impaired individuals. Based on our experiences, prejudice is still present in our society because while employers are selecting employees from the sighted, they are not truly willing to hire the blind job-seekers. We aim to alter this mindset and open opportunities for blind employees to reveal their professional skills and knowledge in all aspects of life because this is what they truly need; a decent job and not welfare.

Sustainable growth:

“Sustainable development is a development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”

(UN, Brundtland Report, 1987)

During our everyday actions at the Invisible Exhibition, we are seeking to contribute to a sustainable future. Due to our environmentalist and environmentally conscious mindset, we take care of our environment and together with our co-workers we act daily against pollution and wastage. We consider the social, societal, economic and ecologic goals as the foundation of our activities which we implement on the basis of management guidelines. Through this process, we realize all of our activities in a transparent manner in the view of sustainable economy and development.

As part of our economical efforts, we favour electronic options over paper consuming means of communication within and outside of the office, furthermore, we support the digitalization of administration and our visitors’ digital transformation. Protecting our environment is important for all of our employees, we aim for an ecological lifestyle, hence we separate and reuse our waste, we intend to make energy consumption optimal as much as possible, and we prefer environmentally conscious means of transportation.
